I've written my third ... thing about my family in the last week, this apparently is a popular topic in language classes in the month of February.

你們好！我叫伍籣妮。這是我的照片、這是我家。我家有五個人、我爸爸、我媽媽、一個第第、一個妹妹、和我。我沒有哥哥姐姐。這是我爸爸，他叫Larry，他是工程師。我媽媽叫 Jacqui，她是法文學生。我第第叫Bryce，他是工程師學生。我媽媽第第和我都是大學生。這個女孩子是我妹妹，她叫Bridgette，她是高中學生。

I'm proud of myself. I mean, it wasn't hard, that's really basic Chinese, but holy crap that looks cool. Doesn't it? Doesn't it?

It's doubly confusing for me because I know Japanese, and all my brain can do is go "Why is the kanji for 'like' next to 'gate'?"

I ACTUALLY LIKE FLIPPING TO THE BACK OF MY TEXTBOOK JUST TO SEE ALL THE AWESOME STUFF I CAN'T READ, I LIKE WRITTEN CHINESE THAT MUCH.

I haven't figured out if Japanese is helpful or not, in this class. It's definitely useful to be familiar with the characters, and I know all the stroke orders and stuff, but I may forever read the numbers wrong.

My teacher says that learning traditional characters will make reading simplified ones easy! Reading that makes me suspect this is not the case.

They do! Sort of. It kind of horrifies me that I look at these things and just see a them as a sum of their radicals, because that means I've been brainwashed into thinking Chinese characters make sense.

-- yeah, sorry! I never bothered installing traditional. But I did learn traditional for the first year, and it's not a bad idea -- it's not that easy to read simplified if you've learned traditional (just easier than the other way around), but it makes learning them more heartening! :D

DO IT I will fangirl your Russian writing it would look so cool. I can actually read the Cyrillic alphabet, I just only know like ... four words of Russian. I COULD PRONOUNCE YOUR WRITING. BADLY.

I WOULD SO DO IT, but the problem is, I don't have the Russian keyboard layout memorized. I... don't think I ever had it memorized, and phonetic typing isn't available for Russian. I don't think it is, at least. I made a reference sheet for myself a while ago, but it's still a royal pain in the ass.

Hey, I had a Russian keyboard long ago, when I was trying to learn it! But yeah, that must be kind of a nightmare, I have trouble when I'm using the Spanish or French keyboards, and those are like, barely different...

I DON'T EVEN KNOW. MAYBE YOU MADE IT MAD, AND IT WAS TRYING TO PUNISH YOU.

I don't understand a dang thing you're saying but that is very cool. :)
