you're not the only one, so get up;

Internet shut off for about an hour tonight.

And I've developed this really weird thing, and by "thing" I mean "sudden stabbing and not insignificant pain behind my right ear that goes off every couple of minutes," which I only noticed after I'd muttered ouch under my breath a whole bunch of times. My self-awareness is an amazing thing.

But, wait, I must have noticed! Because I said ouch.

My complaints were just ignored. By... me.

God, my brain.

Showed this icon to my parents, and with context, they thought it was hilarious. My dad, especially.

I'll never have a better motivation!

Bees aren't the most terrible thing you could be running from...

They're the most terrible thing I'm likely to run into, I think. Them and attack dogs.

Attack dogs might settle for maiming you...

Probably! Experience leads me to expect even though most terrifying dogs to be reluctant to actually hurt me much, so... I wouldn't run from them nearly as fast as I would run from angry bees!

I wonder if the Japanese hornets could be successfully imported.

... They've got laws against that sort of thing.

I sure hope there aren't any criminals around.

The only possible motive I can think up for such a crime is a really elaborate, bizarre, Snakes on a Plane kind of plot.

Or an entomologist conducing a warped experiment!

You've been watching the Sci-Fi channel a bit too much, I think! C'mon, what damage could the experiments of a crazed entomologist actually do?

Pffffft! Nothing serious, I am sure!

I would not put it past someone who studies bugs for a living to see if the flesh-melting wasps could survive outside of Japan, honestly.

I don't see why they wouldn't survive. What the fuck is going to compete against that?

Actually, they apparently live in other parts of Asia! And, in some places in Japan, are eaten. And some species in Japan have learned to kill them! Look!

Birds with a lot of chutzpah?

They can only do it if they get very lucky, though! And only one at a time!

[identity profile] rocknload.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Birds don't attack in groups.

It looks like they'll kill only one or two, period. They've got to get the scout before it brings back a raiding party!
unicorn: a unicorn skull. (they are dancing!)

[personal profile] unicorn 2008-01-26 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The birds could probably pick them off one or two at a time better than the poor honeybees could, though. Some honeybees DIE when they stop the scouts...

I think bees have evolved to only care about the HIVE. Kind of like ants! They have no sense of self-preservation!

It's always kind of freaked me out! They have no fear.
