Actually, reevaluating the situation with testimony from other witnesses allowed us to determine that he was not kind, nor did I get lucky. See, he was apparently headed in the other direction and actually did a U-turn in order to get behind me, and immediately pulled me over without having time to gauge my speed.
So our best guess is he saw the truck with people in the back, and since it was one in the morning figured that odds were good I was drunk. When I wasn't, well, he didn't care.
