This was on the air when I think I was ten. I fucking loved it. As a kid, I had no video games, no particularly interesting toys, no friends, and I was never allowed to watch anything but what my parents turned on the television—which, incidentally, happened to be intensely imagination fueling things—so I played a lot of pretend games. Or rather, I directed a lot of pretend scenarios and forced my little brother and sister to play out the parts I invented for them. Sometimes we were victorious over the dastardly villains, like Captain Hook and Shredder. And sometimes we died horribly. It happens.

After we saw this show? Holy crap. We made a sliding device out of a lath out of my dad's truck and a push pin, wrote some buttons and dials on it with with a pen, and suddenly we could go wherever the fuck we wanted.

Now that I'm rewatching it now? It's still pretty awesome.

I don't know why I ever thought American television sucks.

AHA I remember that show. I watched it with my mum quite a bit when I was little. She always got me watching whatever crazy sci-fi she was watching at the time. Sliders was pretty darn good while it lasted, even if it kinda went to shit at the end there.

I still remember watching one of the first episodes and them offering a guy a dollar bill and the guy was all "NO LOOK THEY'RE RED FUCKERS WHAT IS THIS SHIT" ...yeah I have a weird memory.

Yeah, I don't even count it after the Professor was off the show. After that, and even a little before that, it just fucking sucked.

THAT WAS THE PILOT EPISODE I totally just watched that.

YES I LOVE JOHN RHYS-DAVIES, I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I LIKE HIM BETTER FROM THIS OR FROM INDIANA JONES, BOTH THESE THINGS WERE KIND OF ICONS FROM MY CHILDHOOD

WHEN I FOUND OUT HE WAS GOING TO BE GIMLI LIKE EIGHTEEN MONTHS BEFORE THE LORD OF THE RINGS MOVIES EVEN CAME OUT, IT WAS LIKE I DIED AND WENT TO FANGIRL HEAVEN

Yeah, I think the Professor was my favourite, and it kinda made me fall in love with John Rhys-Davies as well. I didn't watch as much as my mum did, but I kinda just gave up on it after he left.

AHAHA OKAY I REMEMBERED CORRECTLY THEN

IT WAS THE FUCKING AWESOMEST SHOW ON TELEVISION WHEN IT WAS ON. IT WAS LIKE QUANTUM LEAP ONLY BADASSIER, GOD.

DUDE I WAS SO THRILLED HE WAS GIMLI. AND I MAY HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE THE MASSIVE CRUSH ON ELIJAH WOOD I HAD SINCE I WAS ABOUT TEN OR TWELVE, I WAS BOTH ALL "OHGOD YES" AND "...OHGOD THIS IS EMBARRASSING" WHEN THE CASTING CAME OUT FOR THAT SHIT.

The Professor was great. SO WERE QUINN AND REMBRANDT, THOUGH. Wade was kinda eh, especially when she was being like, extra useless, but the cast worked totally perfect.

IT WAS ONLY GOOD FOR THE FIRST TWO SEASONS, BUT THEY WERE AWESOME SEASONS, MAN, I LOVE THIS SHOW

Reading the Wikipedia pages about the show sucks, though. Pretty much everyone died horribly in the later seasons.

I LOVED QUANTUM LEAP AS A KID TOO I THINK BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AS I LIKED THIS ONE

I WAS ALSO PRETTY THRILLED WITH SEAN BEAN, TOO, BUT JAMES BOND WAS ALSO A CHILDHOOD ICON. I THINK I HAD A LOT OF CHILDHOOD ICONS.

Oh my god I loved that show when I was a kid. My friends and I used to pretend play it too. 8D I haven't seen it in years and years.

It holds up really well! Well, the first two seasons, anyway. Once the Kromags show up you might as well ignore the whole thing. THE PILOT IS HERE IF YOU WANT TO REMINISCE.

So, when are they making a biopic for Pavarotti and when are they casting John Rhys-Davies in it?
