rocknload: (DARKWING ☌ oh boy)

Finally, I get crossposting from Dreamwidth to work. After two months! That's what those "testing" posts were all about, if you saw them. Eh, sorry about that. Technology and I often aren't friends, and since technology is soullessly consistent, that usually means I'm doing something stupid.

I've made absolutely no good use out of my last three sick days. I could've cleaned, or written, or slept but none of these things happened. I could've done mod stuff at [livejournal.com profile] startrek2009 but I didn't feel up to it at all. I just laid in bed and stared at stuff. I did randomly check my university email and found out that someone on campus might've offered me a job over the semester ... three weeks ago, and I could pull my hair out. I emailed him back and I hope he's still interested in hearing from me. Goddamn.

I'm supposed to move back to Tucson in August and it's started to occur to me that I haven't done any sort of work on this whatsoever. It looks like a room costs somewhere between $400 and $500 to rent, a studio is around the same. That'll be plus utilities, though. It's hard to make decisions like this when you really can't afford any option. This complex sounds sort of promising, but isn't that just like living in the dorms?

Insomnia's been a bitch, lately. I'm too tired to decide anything.

Oh, and I found this last night! And I still love it.

Thank you! And heh, I feel like rewatching it, too. But I just keep watching that video over and over, and it cracks me up every time.

It's kind of like living in the dorms, but without the sleeping porch.

And parking's only 25 bucks a month instead of 500 bucks a semester. And it looks almost hilariously overprotective, but I'm not sure I'd mind paying an extra fifty bucks a month or whatever for the convenience of barely having to worry about crime.

And don't double suites have seperate bedrooms even if you have a roommate? And it says "private bath." I'd look into this seriously.

No, the rooms look sort of the same as dorm rooms, except for the separate bathrooms. And there's an onsite hotel for people who visit you! I think I'm going to. I was too tired last night, when it came up in my five minutes of throwing things at Google and seeing what it'd spit out at me. Now all I have is tiiiiiime.

Yeah, I just saw that but couldn't edit. STILL. I think you would've been about fifty times happier last semester if you'd been able to have your car there.

They also believe in selling fruit. Fruit.

That picture was not nearly so huge on the site.

YOU COULD FEED YOURSELF.

And it's like fourteen hundred bucks cheaper than an 8-month lease on a university apartment even if you lease for the whole year. IT IS PROMISING. I guess a lot of college students would miss the dorm experience if they stayed here, though, the no-partying-or-overnighting rules seem pretty strict.

OH NO THE DORM EXPERIENCE. Where would kids today be without that. Yeah, the rules do not concern me! Honestly I think I more likely to make friends if I can be all, "Oh, shit, it's a hundred a ten today? Good thing I live in a complex with a pool, la de da~."

I talked to my dad about it, and my dad's first question was about safety and security, which means he's actually noticed how I tend to gloss over the issue entirely when it comes to talking about the great deals on housing I'm considering. But you're right, this isn't much more for two semesters that I paid for one in campus, and even leaving alone in a studio is sort of feasible.

I AM PLEASED. Unfortunately it's possible the application process rips you off, hn.

No band instruments shall be played on the Premise at any time.

My guitaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars.

I think I'll still try to live here, though, even with the less than awesome stuff. Even if means lying about my love of metal and smuggling in my basses and my six string, because if I've got my own room damn straight I'm going to use the floorspace for displaying my prized, prized possessions.

Plans might have changed. I mean I get it if they don't want them in the rooms but the context leads me to suspect they mean in the parking lot too.

It actually gets warmer there when it rains. Not that I'll have to worry about that a whole lot. I think it rained twice over the semester when I was there. Maybe three times. Never when I was outside but I'm pretty sure it happened. Supposing it happened a few more times over the summer ... there's only nine rainy days left! Or less.

I'm sort of concerned. I've gotten many tans over my life, and they usually look fairly natural due to my dad's ~Mexican blood~ and all. But, uh. I've never seen any of my skin looking quite this shade of brown. Good thing it's falling off!

Flagstaff's worse for skin cancer, though, due to nearly that many days of sunshine compounded with our high altitude. Can you tell I've done a lot of reading into skin cancer.

I was telling my father a few days ago about my concerns, and then he laughed and said, "Oh, don't worry. When I was your age, doing the same job, I used to get burned like that all the time."

And then he laughed harder.
